There are many mountain and canyon hiking trails to explore in and around Palm Springs. Joshua Tree National Park is a serene sanctuary and about an hour drive from the hotel. It is pristine and a favorite of hikers, rock climbers and photographers alike. It offers something for anyone who wishes to experience the desert as it was thousands of years ago. Near the hotel also is Tahquitz Canyon and Indian Canyon. Take a ranger tour.. you will be amazed at what you see and learn.

Over 60 years ago the Moorten family began gathering, growing and displaying what today is one of the world’s most diverse collection of desert plants. Walk through the “World’s First Cactarium”, see specimen cacti that defy imagination and speak with one of this areas most knowledable experts on the desert and its amazing vegetation. And the best part? You can ride one of our cruiser bikes over there.It’s 3 blocks away.

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway—the world’s largest rotating tram car—travels over two-and-one-half miles along the breathtaking cliffs of Chino Canyon, transporting riders to the pristine wilderness of the Mt. San Jacinto State Park. During your approximately ten-minute journey, tram cars rotate slowly, offering picturesque and spectacular vistas of the valley floor below. Once you reach the Mountain Station—elevation 8,516 feet—enjoy two restaurants, observation decks, natural history museum, two documentary theaters, gift shop and over 50 miles of hiking trails.

Just a short drive from the hotel is one of the largest collections of World War ll aircraft. The many indoor and outdoor exhibitions and photography galleries come alive via the personal experiences and tales of its docents. The air museum even offers rides in some of these old air crafts!

The historic house and grounds were completed in 1966. The house was designed by A. Quincy Jones, a pioneer of midcentury modern architecture. The estate contains thousands of trees, 11 man-made lakes, a tennis court, and a nine-hole golf course designed by Dick Wilson The Annenbergs left the historic residence – where they entertained seven U.S. presidents, British royalty, celebrities, and international leaders – in a public trust to be forever operated as a high-level retreat center devoted to international understanding and the public good. Since their passing, The Annenberg Retreat at Sunnylands has hosted meetings that address serious issues facing the nation and the world.

The new Agua Caliente Cultural Museum is under construction and set to open in 2020. The new museum, designed by JCJ Architecture, will be located at the corner of E. Tahquitz Canyon Way and S. Indian Canyon Drive in downtown Palm Springs. The new museum is intended as a home to celebrate the history, culture and modern times of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. Inspiration for the museum’s design includes Agua Caliente traditions such as basket weaving and pottery (ollas) and elements found among the natural desert landscape. The design reflects the Tribe’s values and ongoing commitment to the Agua Caliente people. In addition, the project site is the home of the Agua Caliente Hot Mineral Spring.

The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is a nonprofit, accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, ensuring the highest standards of all aspects of animal care, education, conservation, public service, and operations. The Zoo is active in conservation research, habitat protection, breeding programs and education initiatives around the world, as well as in its own community. The Zoo has been a top attraction in the Palm Springs area for nearly 50 years.
